Digital Backpacks with Dr. Carmen Coleman

In this episode, Dr. Carmen Coleman, Chief Academic Officer for Jefferson County Public Schools (JPCS) in Louisville, KY, shares her journey with the nationally-acclaimed JCPS Backpack for Success Program as more than 22,000 students in 5th, 8th and 12th grades have now uploaded a million artifacts to show mastery of the district's five essential success skills. Dr. Coleman shares the entire "Digital Backpack" journey, from visiting High Tech High in San Diego, CA as a former school district superintendent to working with the JCPS District Innovation Team that created an in-house platform and Digital Learning Channel to build momentum with community stakeholders. Finally, Coleman talks about JCPS's partnership with Google and how a Student Defense Model has led to greater assessment and accountability to measure student success. Twitter: @kids_inspire.
