Overthrowing Education Joins the Education Podcast Network

Overthrowing Education is the newest podcast to join the Education Podcast Network as of January 2020.

We're excited to offer a podcast that covers such an important area of education.

About Overthrowing Education

Batsheva Frankel hosts and produces an edgy and entertaining educational podcast for teachers, students, parents, administrators and anyone else who cares about the state of education presented by The Areté Institute in conjunction with Areté Preparatory Academy. While it is playful and fun, we also address the revolutionary changes that are happening and need to happen to create more meaningful and engaging education, as well as dealing with important societal issues. We celebrate students, educators, and schools who are getting it right and give tools and guidance for inspiring everyone else.

But that's not all! We also have fauxmercial sponsors (commercial parodies for products we wish were real) and the hilarious and challenging 5-Minute Game Show!

Batsheva Frankel, MAT, is a veteran teacher of over 25 years. In 2011, she began developing the award-winning LaunchBox products, which are games and activities that explore big philosophical ideas. She is also the creator of Lenses of Questioning, a methodology for helping students with critical and analytical thinking skills. Batsheva has given classes and workshops for educators all over the US and UK, including at the Deeper-Learning Conference, The California Association for the Gifted, GameLevelLearnCon, Limmud Festival and NewCAJE. Through her educational consulting company, New Lens, Batsheva designs curriculum and creative programming, as well as mentors teachers for many institutions across the US. From her long-time teaching and administrative gig at Areté Preparatory Academy, Batsheva and the head of Areté Prep, Jim Hahn, formed The Areté Institute in Los Angeles to actively participate in and contribute to the larger conversation about what great education could and should be and how to make it happen. As director of The Areté Institute, Batsheva produces and hosts Overthrowing Education as well creates programming for both educators and parents. Her book, The Jewish Educator’s Companion: Practical Tools and Inspirational Ideas was published in 2017 (Behrman House)
